This discussion goes beyond traditional mentorship to explore the distinct roles of mentors, sponsors, and advisors, and why each matters at different stages of your career. Panelists will share practical insight on identifying the right people, building authentic relationships, asking for support with confidence, and creating an informal advisory board that offers guidance, advocacy, and perspective.
Panelists
Adrienne Fischer is a corporate attorney and founder of Basecamp Legal, a Denver-based law firm that helps businesses navigate growth, investment, and brand protection. She earned her undergraduate degree from New York University and her law degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. Before launching her own firm in 2016, Adrienne built her expertise in business and employment law while practicing in Los Angeles. With a keen eye for innovation, Adrienne is exploring the intersection of law, business, and artificial intelligence to help companies future-proof their operations. She is a frequent speaker at Denver Startup Week and an active mentor in programs like Founded Outdoors and REI Co-op’s Path Ahead Ventures Embark Program, where she supports early-stage entrepreneurs in scaling their businesses. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Outdoor Lab Foundation, a non-profit dedicating to helping Jeffco kids get outside. Licensed in California, Colorado, and Idaho, Adrienne is a trusted legal partner for startups and emerging growth companies. When she’s not advising clients, she can be found skiing, hiking with her two dogs, or working on her upcoming book.
Bruce Wu is a lawyer, an engineer, a strategist, and an executive coach. Over the last two decades, he has served as Chief Legal Officer, Chief People Officer, Head of Business Development in multiple companies in Silicon Valley. Bruce currently advises multiple US and Canadian AI and life sciences companies on legal, HR, corporate, and compliance related matters, as their fractional General Counsel and business strategist. An internationally recognized leader in strategy and team building, Bruce was named an Asian Leader Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal, an Exceptional Leadership Champion by Consero, and an IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property; and he has been recognized as one of the world’s leading IP strategists by Managing IP’s IAM300. A frequent speaker and writer, Bruce has shared his insights on multiple journals, online forums, and at numerous conferences. Bruce received his BASc from the University of Toronto, his MS and PhD in two engineering fields from MIT, and his JD from Georgetown.
