FAQs

Koa Counsel membership is open to women or those who identify as women who are either licensed to practice law in any U.S. state or the international equivalent, or are currently law students pursuing a legal career. There are no age, experience, or referral requirements to join — we value members at every career stage, including those on parental leave, career breaks, or working outside the traditional practice of law. International members are also welcome, with many programs and events offered virtually. Together, members connect, share experiences, and thrive beyond the bar.

Koa Counsel reserves the right to approve or decline any membership application at its sole discretion. Memberships are individual, considered a privilege rather than a right, and do not confer governing or voting rights within Koa Counsel.

All required fields in the membership application must be completed to process your Koa Counsel membership. After approval of your application, you will receive an email with instructions for setting up your profile in the Koa Counsel Membership Portal. Please ensure your inbox is configured to accept emails from Koa Counsel so you do not miss important membership updates and news.

Except for events specifically designated as public, you must be logged in to register for and attend any workshops or events listed on our Events Calendar. Some programs may require a separate registration fee. Non-members wishing to attend members-only workshops or events must first join Koa Counsel.

You can cancel your membership to Koa Counsel at any time by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your account on our website.
  2. Go to “Account Details” under the ‘My Account’ tab
  3. Go to “Cancel Membership”

If you cancel your membership before the end of your current membership year, your membership will end right away. However, membership fees you’ve already paid for that year are non-refundable.

If you cancel before your renewal date, your membership will not renew, and you will not be charged for the next year.

If you cancel after your renewal date, your membership will have already renewed, and you will be responsible for that year’s membership fee.
